Dear Muslim Assalamu Alaikum Warahmathullahi Wabarakathuhu Reading through the explanation I felt sorry for the following mistakes. 1 - The text of the hadith not looked carefully. 2 - Not realizing the commentary of this hadith. 3 - Ignoring the basics and fundamentals in deriving a Islamic law.
First Haidth ============ 1 - THE TEXT OF THE HADITH. On the authority of Aisha (Raziallahu Anha) said: "The Messenger of Allah came to me I had covered my home (A small home), with a curtain in it was pictures, (In one narration A horse with wings), When He saw this, He destroyed it, and coloured it's face, and Said: "Oh! Aisha! The most severe people who will be punished by Allah on the day of judgement are those who try to make resemblance to Allah's creature, (In another narration: These people of the pictures will be punished, and will be told to them: "Give life to which you created [made]and then He said: "That house in which there are pictures Angels do not come int) Aisha said: "We cut it and made from it pillow or two pillows, [I saw Him leaning to one of them on one of it the picture was in it]" Collected by Imam Al-Bukhari in his Saheeh, Imam Muslim, Imam Al-Baihaqi, Imam Al-Bagawi, and others as well 2 - THE COMMENTARY OF THIS HADITH The commentary of this hadith is that the Prophet Muhammed Sallahu Alaihi Wassallum forbade Aisha from having the picture while it had the head on it. To the limit He Himself Sallahu Alaihi Wassallum destroyed it and coloured it's head. Which clearly shows that the Prophet Muhammed Sallahu Alaihi Wassallum did not agree for the picture to be in his house. Once this picture was destroyed he did not hesitate to use the damaged picture for other purposes. At the very same time the shadow, or image which was present in the time of the Prophet Muhammed Sallahu Alaihi Wassallum, He did not take any step to stop them. Due to the main reason of .... a - The image or the Shadow is not a thing which one makes of his effort but it is of that reflects. Thus there is no meaning of making picture out of it. Even till today no one will ever take a shadow or the image in mirror as a picture but will call it my image not my picture. But while that which is taken by any oldern or latest technology with the effort of some means is never known as a shadow or image but a picture. There is no difference for us to understand that the word picture is clearly bieng given to that which has been captured by the cameras. Now the difference is that in a camera or other latest technology one is capturing the image and it is called as the "picture" only because the original image is no more here it is a duplicate of it the name of "picture" applies to. This form of converting the original to another copy of it is what we say "picture". Thus even if one is going to take the mirror and end up to make an effort of captureing that particular image then that would soon be said as "the picture of that particular image". From this we can understand clearly that the image is what itself is while picture is the other copy of it. Allah knows the best. b - In this process of capturing picture by any means is where one falls into the sin. As he is using his methodology to create where a resemblance is being done to Allah's creature. No doubt at the early times the effort was not that smart to look similar to the original item. But anyhow the technology has reached man to take the very same image of a person as he has it even the difference of his movements and minute actions in which the sin of getting to the resemblance of creation is more than what was before. Any how although at earlier time the effort was more but still the resemblance was less. While now the effort is less and the resemblance is more. Well the sin is on the much resemblance you do in this action. Either we had more effort or less effort if we fall into the action of making things resemble to Allah's creation we have to give life to them this is the short message of the ruling. Allah knows the best.
SUMMARY OF ABOVE DISCUSSION FROM THE HADITH. =========================================== 1 - Curtain in it was pictures, (In one narration A horse with wings). Which means the picture was not 3-dimensional. 2 - The Prophet destroyed it himself by damaging the picture and colouring it's face. Which shows that the picture is not left in any situation to remain resembling Allah's creation. 3 - The sin is due to the resemblance to Allah's creature. Which means the more resemblance the more the sin. 4 - Angels do not come to a house where there is picture (of life) Which means that angels who do not disobey Allah's orders does not accept this disobiedence due to their loyality they avoid us as well. 5 - Then when the damaged picture was still used without wasting that cloth by cutting it and making from it pillow or two pillows Which means the forbidance is to the resemblance of the picture to Allah's creature once the resemblance is destroyed the cloth can be still used for other purposes.
Well this is the explanation of one hadith and I have next to me another 2 -3 hadith, That is if someone is interesting to have the discussion may ask for it. Other wise the summary of all of them I have included in the explanation of the above hadith. Allah knows the best. 3 - BASICS & FUNDAMENTALS a - Every derivations should always be done from the original words of the text. b - The Arabic wordings should be carefully understood not only the lingustic meaning but as well the Islamic Termonoligy and it's proper definations. c - Always we should understand that a matter where the texts have clearly judged we do not have right to make our opinions by utilizing the other texts to support our feelings. This would be opposite to the meaning of our submission to Allah and his rules. Allah knows the best written with the Praises to Allah and the Salaams and Salwaath to the last Prophet Muhammed Sallahu Alaihi Wassallum by Abu Abdur Rahman Yahya Silmy bin Muhammed Nubar bin Usman bin Noah Lebbe Alaa Marikaar As-Saylani As-Salafi Al-Asari on the 5th of Sha'abaan and one thousand and four hundred and twenty one years from the migration of the Prophet Muhammed Sallahu Alaihi WAssallum to MEdinah. Which falls as the 1st November of 2000
